Monday Monday Monday

Here we are  on a Monday again! It is beautiful out today after having a couple of dreary rainy days. I so wish we could keep more of these nice days! I would be just as happy as a clam(however happy that is! LOL) if we didn't have any snow til after the new year!! It could even wait til March and snow once and get deep cold enough to kill all the bugs and then be all over! Go right into spring!!

Well time is marching on! We turn back the clocks this next weekend. So we get to snooze another hour! Yeah!  Tho I get up whenever unless I have grandkids here.

I haven't actually done any sewing for so long! I have been taking care of my quilt block swap and the Second Sampler Quilt Along I started on the Quilting Board 3 weeks ago. I post a new original designed by me quilt block  every  Friday on the Quilting Board and on the Quilting Haven. So if you miss it in one you can find it in the other forum.

I have been taking names for a sign up for a new class on the Quilting Board that  I will be teaching on how to use your Electric Quilt software. It will begin on Monday Nov 7 and I will be available for discussion at 11 am central time. The classes will continue but as of now I'm not sure which days and how often.
The classes will remain on the Board and you can see them whenever you have time.

My dryer decided it doesn't want to heat anymore so I called a repairman and he said it was the thermal fuse so I called and ordered the part, The first one that came in wasn't the right one. So we ordered again. Brought the fuse home and put it is but it wasnt' the problem! So I am now waiting on a differant repairman to come and look at it. I sure hope he comes and fixes it soon!

We had to have our faucet in the kitchen sink replaced and I got an old fashioned looking one and I love it! We also don't leak anymore!! Yeah!!!

Hoping and wishing you all have Sunshine and Laughter to brighten your day!!

Pictures!

My grandson Daymon stayed with us last weekend and we had some one on one time. He loves to play on the computer and he is a twin so being able to come without his brothers is really great for him. His twin tends to overshadow him and Daymon is a bit on the shy side. Devon talks all the time. So when Daymon is here he talks alot! LOL  He doesn't get to so much at home. I love to hear what is on their minds and listen to the kids when they are playing. It is so interesting to hear what they are thinking about. We often have discussions when they ask me what I think about something. then with the twins(soon to be 8) and Rachel (9 yrs) we have a bedtime routine that is a lot of fun. We sing songs and sometimes do rhymes and tell stories. They love this part.  I made up a sing songy thing that goes Hat Hat I have a hat  ... I have a hat on..............Grandma Dot's nose! the kids roar! then each one takes a turn and the locations of the hat are supposed to be silly. Before baby Colton was born (the twins little brother) one of the twins hung the hat on Colton's foot (in the womb!) LOL
I get tired of it but they love this silly little game. Then Rachel has to have Silent Night sung by me as a lullabye. I sing the song about 8 times. Getting softer as I sing it. I only know the first verse so they get the first verse and the chorus over and over again. I guess I slur my words because once Rachel asked me what holyinfanso meant! Holy Infant So Tender etc.

Here are some pictures of my  Mom -Grandma Dot and me and my DIL Angie and Daymon
Not exactly my best hair day! LOL  Mom told me it looked fine! Hah! I don't think so! LOL

Good Sunday Morning!

Today may be a bit dreary outside but it is still a good morning. I am enjoying talking to my friends on the Quilting Board and reading blogs.  I have one grandson staying with us til some time later today. He came on Fri and has been having fun. Daymon is 7 and is a twin. This is the first time he has come by himself. Both boys tend to talk nonstop but Daymon is better about going and playing for awhile on his own. He is as sweet kid if a little shy. I have to keep saying talk louder so I can hear what you are saying! LOL The twins will be 8 on Nov 23rd. My where has the time gone!
He has a baby brother Colton who is the apple of Grandma's eye of course! Colton is 10 mos old. At that stage where he can walk if he would just let go with that one hand.

Daymon has been playing on the computer and he enjoys the building blocks. I have all sorts of building blocks. They all enjoy playing with the toddler size legos. Even my 13 yr old grandsons.

Well there are things I need to do. I have been cleaning and finding the bottom of my house again. I tend to ignore stuff when I don't want to do it and I HATE cleaning! LOL But our dryer decided to go on the fritz and I need to have it looked at. So I have been cleaning the bathroom and sorting clothes and getting them put away. DH does the laundry but he tends to leave things he doesn't know what to do with on the dryer.

So back into the fray once again my friends! LOL I hate having to decide where to put things and that is the biggest source of my procrastination. I have a small house and tend to be a packrat. I also don't have any closets so I have to use wicker baskets and invent some storage other ways. Thankfully we have added several more baskets and I have had a bit more places to store stuff. Some of it may go out to the shed or barn. We do have storage outside. But I don't like to have to go out there in the winter when I need something so anything I might need in the winter can't go out there.

Wishing you all a wonderful Sunday!! Praise the Lord! He is loving and good and keeps us in his hands!
Jesus is my Savior and I pray he is yours too!! May God Bless You and Keep You Always!!

Rhonda's Second Sampler Quilt Along

On the Quilting Board  I started my Second Sampler Quilt Along. I did one last year and decided it was time to do another one.

I thought I would show you all the two Quilt Blocks I have designed for the BOW so far.

This is Autumn. It is the second quilt block in the BOW. I posted it last night on the QB. It uses my star point blocks and is not hard to do at all. Once you learn to make the Star Point Blocks it is easy. A beginner can do it. Check out the Star Point directions above.

Here you see the star point blocks laid out so you can tell where the colors are used and how the blocks are turned. This makes it easy to see how the design goes together.  Once you have the star point blocks made it is a simple matter to just sew the squares together into the quilt block just like you would any other quilt block.

You do need to pay attention to where the points of the star points join. I use a stitch and tack it in place so the points match up and wherever I have two seams I tack them so they can't shift.

This one uses my Boston Blocks. They are really easy to make. After you make the  Boston Blocks you just have to sew the squares together in the right order.

Here is the layout for this quilt block. Again pay attention to where the colors go. And make sure the blocks are placed in the right direction. It is easy to turn them around when you are joining blocks so check this frequently to make sure they are in the right place in the right direction.

If you're a member of the Quilting Board you can send me a pm and I will add your board name to the activity page so you can be notified each week when I post a new quilt block to the Second Sampler.

If you are looking at the threads on the QB there are TWO SAMPLERS on there. The first one I posted 3 quilt blocks each week but this one I am only posting one quilt block per week. So look for the word SECOND in the title to see the one we are doing now!!

Anyone is welcome to join us!! So the more the merrier!!
