Working on a quilt block

Thought I would share the process of working on a quilt block for my Quilt Block Swap on the Quilting Board. I chose my quilt block named Alisha after my great granddaughter.

I am working on putting this quilt block together. I like to make all the "blocks" then put together 4 Blocks into 4 patches.

I'm using gold and burnt orange instead of green and med brown because my swap partner wanted fall colors

To make the 4 patch "Blocks" I cut strips and then sewed the strips together. I am using 2 1/2" square blocks so I cut the strip sets into 1 3/4" sections. Then sew the sections together. You can see in the matched sections on the right I tacked a stitch where the seams meet so they won't move when I sew the seam to join the two sections together. After the sections are sewn together then I will cut out a square from the center with a template.  This is my cut down method.

Here are two of the corner sections sewn together.

But since I am still in progress with this quilt block you will have to wait to see the finished product! LOL
I will post a picture when I get it done.    Hopefully it will be coming soon!!!

Pinterest

I found a new fun thing to do. My DIL and my DGDIL are on Pinterest and I was curious to see what it is. A quilting friend sent me an invite because you can only join if you are invited. It is a site where you can find lots of ideas and there are a lot of differant areas of interest. They have architechural pictures food pictures and recipes decorating pictures craft pictures and lots more. It is alot of fun. Of course it is also another way to waste time and procrastinate instead of quilting and getting things done! LOL

My two grandsons just went home. They have been here all weekend. I do love having the various grands but I am also glad to send them home! *Grin*  Joey is 13 and Zach is my autistic 11 yr old grandson.

I need to go work on my EQ class for tonight so need to go. I hope to have a section on here soon listing all the EQ classes for everyone to use. So maybe I can get to that this week.

Happy Quilting everyone!

Sampler Quilt Along

I started a Sampler Quilt Along on the Quilting Board last year and now I am designing new quilt blocks each week for my Second Sampler on the QB.

Here is the Quilt Block I designed last Fri and posted on the QB. I post a new one every Friday.

And here is the layout of all the Blocks

I have my own way of doing blocks and this is one of my shortcut blocks I call a Triple Strip Block
This block is made with my Cut Down Method.

You can find the directions here: http://calicodreamsforever.blogspot.com/p/rhondas-triple-strip-block.html
