Hectic Day!

Today has been a hectic day! I am used to a quiet household and/or when the kids are here they are able to take care of themselves. When I have had baby Colton before he was containable. Now he is crawling and walking around things and refuses to be contained for long! LOL  It was a constant making sure he hadn't found something to put in his mouth that he wasn't supposed to have! I vacuumed my floor and swept with a broom and then swept twice with a swiffer broom He still found things I somehow missed!! But he is a love! I was holding him and he turned and grinned at me and planted a big wet sloppy puppy kiss on my cheek! I loved it! He will be 9 mos tomarrow.  So I have Colton and his twin brothers Daymon and Devon who are 7 and their cousin - my daughter's daughter- Rachel who is 9.  She has to take shots for Russel Silvers Syndrome (RSS )
and I hate to give shots!! But I struggled through it. She knows exactly what to do and did all of it but putting the needle in her arm. RSS is a growth disorder and the shots are hormone shots to help her grow. She will never be more than 4 ft 8" and that is probably more than she will get to.

Anyway here are some pics we took last night and today
Colton dusting with a sock! LOL

Me and Colton

Of course I am not getting much done but keep up with the kids! Especially Colton. He is almost walking so I wouldn't be surprised to see him walking by the time we see him next month.

Have a good evening everyone!    Rhonda

Grandkids!!

Today I have 3 of my grandsons coming to stay til Sunday. Devon and Daymon are twins and they will be 8 in November. Then their little brother Colton will be 9 mos old on Sat. I try to have them one weekend a month so I get to spend time with them and they will have grandma and papa memories. We love to sing songs and tell stories and be silly. Devon has gone pc crazy! He has always been an intellectual kid and loves puzzles and games. Daymon on the other hand is more into cars and trucks and music and loves to be silly!! They are fraternal twins and are as opposite as day and night. But they still have that twin bond even tho they fight alot. They prefer to go their own way each but they also still see themselves as a unit.

Baby Colton is a love! He loves to cuddle. He is our youngest grandchild tho we have great grands and are expecting a fourth greatgrand in Dec. A great granddaughter named Serenity.  Colton will be 9 mos this sat. He loves to try to keep up with his older brothers! LOL

Then tomarrow after school my granddaughter Rachel will be here to play with the boys. She is looking forward to seeing them as it has been 2 months since they have been together. She has been here with her brothers but not with the twins. So I know they will have a good time this weekend. I love to listen to them play. They are so much fun to listen to.

I plan to take lots more pictures this weekend so I will have updated pics to share soon!

Wishing everyone sunshine and laughter!!

What I am working on....

Here is the Doll Quilt I am working on. I belong to the Hummers Garden forum and I started this Doll Quilt Swap. Unfortunately I am way way late on getting this to my partner. I am almost done with it and hope to have it in the mail by Fri. It's 16" x 16 1/2" in size.

Tip of the Day!

When you choose fabrics keep in mind to look for fabrics that don't blend. If you are using 3 or 4 fabrics in your quilt block then you need to make them each stand out on their own or you will end up with only 2 fabrics that you can see. Take your fabrics and lay them together. Then stand back about 5 feet and see if you can see each one clearly. If you use a white and a cream together or a light and a light with just a little print in it they will  look like one color. They will blend. The more contrast you can get the better your quilt block will look..

You can use soft colors but if you have two that use the same or similar colors then make sure you use a small print and a large print or your prints in the two are drastically different. If one has a circle design or squiggle design then make your other one straight lines or something completely differant. The size of the print could be different too.  I personally would avoid putting two fabrics together that are the same print but differant colors. I think there isn't enough variety in that to be pleasing to the eye. But each to their own. If you like it then it is right for you!

You can see the contrast between the green / black /pink and the light background.
